Melco International’s revenue climbed 10% in H1 2021

Melco International Program reported revenues of HK$8.43bn (US$1.08bn) reported in the first half of 2021, a 10% increase from the previous year.

The company, which owns four casinos in Macau, reported adjusted EBITDA of HK$732.5m, compared to 20 negative EBITDA of HK$886,2m during the first six months.

The company’s interim after-tax loss was HK$3.75bn, compared to HK$7.06bn for the first half of last year.

Melco President and CEO Lawrence Ho welcomed the gradual return of visitors and space travel limitations, and pointed out the areas that the company will focus on in the coming months.

“Macau has enjoyed a steady recovery in the overall economy as travel restrictions relax and visitors will gradually return home,” said Ho. “This has also led to a gradual recovery in business levels for our entire business in the second quarter of the year 2021.

“With the significant recovery now driven by premiums and risky market players, let us continue to advance the market development of these segments.”

Meanwhile, the Melco Jab Immunity Program has been lauded as an incentive to support efforts to support the vaccination regime against Covid-19, with over 70% of the company’s staff in Macau and Hong Kong now being vaccinated.

“We encourage the development of the rollout of Covid-19 vaccines in Macau, Hong Kong and China, and, with increased rates of vaccination around the world, relaxation of restrictions is increasing and recovery is taking place. The tourism industry is drawing closer to the coast,” added Ho.
